Discover the Ultimate Celebration

It’s a big city, and parties tend to span far and wide. This is never more true than when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around, bringing Irish traditions old and new to San Diego’s distinctive neighborhoods. Here’s the most famous of the bunch.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Irish Festival

Traveling up Fifth Ave. from Laurel to Upas Sts., then back down Sixth Ave. to Laurel St. in Balboa Park, this is the signature St. Patrick’s affair, capturing all those California vibes as well as traditional Irish rites. The huge family-friendly festival that follows is beloved for its live music and dancing, plus the Celtic Village, food and drink vendors, and other activities like a K-12 Celebration of Ireland contest for the artistically inclined.
